Wild Cherry is a fast growing plant and can be used to grow free standing trees or can be mixed in to a native hedgerow where the fast growing plants will quickly provide some bulk. They are very important to wildlife as they produce a crop of wild cherries which are inedible to humans but the birds love them. They also produce masses of white flowers early in the spring, and in the autumn, the leaves turn red and yellow, so they are a very good choice for inclusion in a mixed hedge.

The plants do not require particularly good soil and will quickly mix to make a dense hedge which is easy to maintain from 3ft upwards. Each plant will grow approximately 25cm each year, given average conditions, and can be planted in full or partial shade.
